Fictional Solar System

Description

Here is another one for hte art challenge between Csendes-Arny and me. One of my suggestions was to create a fictional solar system and use traditional media to draw/paint it.

About the solar system:
The star is not a mid class star like ours but a smaller class blue giant. And it looks like it has tentacles, I guess I suck at drawing flames :XD:.
I am actually not sure if a this will be a functional solar system bearing planets that could have life, but I was to lazy to do research on the radiation of blue giants and what difference it would be to our sol.
First planet in the row is a solid rock mainly consistent of metal. It is practically what other planets have as a core, all magnets in kilometers reach will feel attached to this little fellow .
Second planet is 90% covered with water with only little continent islands peeking out of the water. If the planet was further away from it’s sun the water could freeze at the poles and there would be more land mass. But it is hot and humid and only microorganisms live there. The microorganism (things like algae and cyanobacteria) cause the red color of the water (that happens sometimes on Earth too called red tides, but of course on a smaller scale). Three asteroid-type moon circle the planet.
Third planet is a really misshaped sphere :XD: and the opposite of the second one: it is a water planet too, but the water is almost constantly frozen. There are heavy storms on the surface. A reddish rocky moon circles the planet.
Next coming up we have some clown colored planet =p. I could not decide on a color for this one and so this came to be =P. I admit I was thinking how to explain the colors longer than it took to paint the entire picture :XD:. Let’s say the color is caused by different Cobalt compounds :XD:. This must be the highest occurance of Cobalt in the galaxy . To make it even weirder looking it is surrounded by a couple of moons and two separated rings.
Last but not least there is a cocktail-colored Saturn-copycat. Now I am running out of explanations for those colors :XD:. And I ran out of room for further gas planets =P.

I first started this with aquarell pencils, but the colors were not as intense as I wanted them to be =(. So I tried watercolor instead and liked the outcome better. I have not did much with watercolor in years !
