Cute Shark Tooth

This is a rather rare thing to find in a thin section. This is a puny shark tooth. And it was coincidence the section was cut this way.
That tooth is only 2mm wide.
The picture was taken with a regular digital camera through the polarisation microskope and polarized light. The dark areas are the resin with which the rock was hardened. The remaining objects are pellets (fossilzed poop) and small pieces of shells.

The rock it is from is a limestone from the Uppermost Cretaceous found near Maastricht. I was the one who made that thin section and described it in my diploma thesis. Therefore you may use this picture only with my permission.
